Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Elizabeth “Liz” Talarico’s distinguished legal career began with academic excellence at the University of Notre Dame, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Relations as a Notre Dame Scholar for four consecutive years, demonstrating the intellectual rigor and dedication that would define her entire career. Her commitment to education continued with a Master’s degree in Secondary Education and Social Studies from Trinity College, Washington, D.C., before returning to Notre Dame Law School where she earned her Juris Doctor while serving as a University Fellow and Production Editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy.

Commissioned into the U.S. Army JAG Corps in 2003, Liz embarked on a remarkable two-decade journey that would take her from company-level legal assistance to the highest echelons of military legal command. Her service has spanned nearly every core role available to a military attorney—prosecutor, defense counsel, brigade judge advocate, and senior legal advisor—across both active duty and reserve components, including critical overseas assignments in Germany and Afghanistan. This comprehensive experience, combined with over 12 years specializing in medical separations and her current role leading defense attorneys representing Army Reserve Soldiers nationwide, has given her an unmatched understanding of the challenges facing service members at every stage of their military careers and transition to civilian life.
